TOMS RIVER – The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders invites the public to attend the eleventh
annual Asian Indian Flag Raising Ceremony scheduled for noon on Friday, Aug. 15 at the Ocean County
Administration Building, Hooper Ave., here. The flag raising marks the 610th Anniversary of the
Independence of India from Britain.
“We are pleased to be able to host this special day recognizing India’s independence,” said Freeholder
Director Joseph H. Vicari. “Flag raising ceremonies give residents an opportunity to appreciate the vast
diversity of cultures we have in Ocean County. This is a time to recognize contributions made by
everyone.”
Youth members will perform a “Cultural Faire” Dance, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Honor
Guard will be in attendance, as well as representatives from the Asian Indian Association of Central
Jersey.
