OCEAN COUNTY HOSTS 11th ANNUAL INDIAN FLAG RAISING

TOMS RIVER – The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders invites the public to attend the eleventh annual Asian Indian Flag Raising Ceremony scheduled for noon on Friday, Aug. 15 at the Ocean County Administration Building, Hooper Ave., here. The flag raising marks the 610th Anniversary of the Independence of India from Britain. “We are pleased to be able to host this special day recognizing India’s independence,” said Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari. “Flag raising ceremonies give residents an opportunity to appreciate the vast diversity of cultures we have in Ocean County. This is a time to recognize contributions made by everyone.” Youth members will perform a “Cultural Faire” Dance, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard will be in attendance, as well as representatives from the Asian Indian Association of Central Jersey.
