FREEHOLDERS STAND UP FOR CHILDREN

TOMS RIVER – Proclaiming the month of June as Stand For Children Month in Ocean County, the Board of Chosen Freeholders is encouraging members of the community to join together in an effort to improve the quality of life for children.

Ocean County’s Human Services Advisory Council has promoted Stand For Children as a time for communities to join together and raise awareness about issues affecting children; make concrete improvements in the lives of local children and families; and recognize the unmet needs of children.

“Every child deserves a safe and healthy community to live and grow in,” said Freeholder Gerry P. Little, who serves as chairman of Human Services. “Working together can make a difference in our children’s lives.”

The Freeholders have been advocates of numerous programs benefiting children and their families.

“Caring for children must be our families’, community’s, and nation’s first priority,” said Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari. “This commitment must begin at the local level, where families live and work.”

Every year, hundreds of communities across the country take a stand for children by organizing local events and dedicating themselves to improving the quality of life for every child.

“We encourage all citizens to address these issues in the community and take a stand for children,” Little said.

The Board of Chosen Freeholders presented the Stand For Children proclamation to HSAC’s Child Care Committee on Wednesday, June 18. Members of the committee include Chairperson Gwen Forte, and members Joan Christopher, Violet LaGrotteria, Hindy Langer, Linda Murtagh along with HSAC coordinator Kathy Jaworski and HSAC member Susan Mascola.
