FREEHOLDERS RECOGNIZE SAFETY CONTEST WINNERS

TOMS RIVER – The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders recognized the winners of a Halloween Safety Coloring Contest at the Nov. 5 board meeting, here.

“The importance of safety on Halloween night sometimes gets lost in all the excitement of the holiday,” said Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari. “We wanted to bring attention to the ways that children and their parents can ensure a safe and fun holiday for all.”

The county’s Department of Consumer Affairs held the contest, which was open to all Ocean County students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Around 5,000 entries were received from schools throughout the county.

“We are extremely proud of each student who participated in this contest, to remind all of us that safety always comes first,” Vicari said.

The winners and their respective schools for the kindergarten and first grade category are: First place, Kadin Morrell, Bayville Elementary School; Second place, Gabriella Raffetto, Bay Head Elementary School; Third place, Madison Comire, Elms Elementary School.

For the second and third grade category: First place, Devynn Lee, Elms Elementary School; Second place, Alexis Pati, Emma Havens School; Third place, Anastasia Safonova, Clifton Avenue Grade School.

And for the fourth and fifth grade category: First place, Jenna Rudd, North Dover Elementary School; Second place, Kelly Douglass, Silver Bay Elementary School; Third place, Alexa Leon, Hooper Avenue Elementary School.
