WOUNDED WARRIOR RESOURCE CENTER OFFERS HELP AND SUPPORT FOR RECOVERING SERVICE MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES
MILITARY MEMBERS wounded in combat and their families have a new resource to help them through the
recovery process.
The Wounded Warrior Resource Center, established by the Department of Defense, now provides around-the-clock
support through telephone and email to service members and theirs loved ones.
“This is an important federal initiative for our troops,” said Ocean County Freeholder Gerry P.
Little. “Our brave troops returning from combat need to know where to turn for help as they recover from both their
emotional and physical wounds.”
Little, who is liaison to the Ocean County Veterans Service Bureau, said the new service will not replace the
existing wounded warrior programs already run by each branch of the military.
“This is simply a new and easy way for a serviceman or woman, or their families, to reach out and contact someone
for help with questions ranging from health care to military facilities and benefits,” Little said.
Trained consultants will man the phones and help the caller contact the appropriate military service or federal
agency that can provide a direct answer to their question.
Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari said the new service is especially important to Ocean County and the entire
state of New Jersey.
“The New Jersey Army National Guard this summer had its largest mobilization since World War II,” Vicari said.
“Many of our local volunteers are again fighting on the front lines in the war against terror. These brave men and
women deserve all the support we can give them.”
The Wounded Warrior Resource Center can be reached at (800) 342-9647 or e-mailed at wwrc@militaryonesource.com.
Little said the Ocean County Veterans Service Bureau offers a variety of services for returning military members
and their families.
“We provide everything from counseling to job placement,” Little said. “I encourage all veterans, no matter when
they served, to contact our Veterans Bureau to learn about the benefits we offer.”
The Veterans Service Bureau can be reached at (732) 929-2096 or by visiting the Ocean County Website at

Ocean County is home to 68,000 veterans – more than any other county in New Jersey.
